Stop saying “Summarize this”

“Summarize this”

The key points got cut, and what's left is a pile of correct but useless sentences.

Say this

Summarize this in three sentences: first the conclusion, then the most important evidence, then the thing I should watch out for. Don't add anything the original doesn't say.

Xiaoting says

There's no single right summary, so AI picks whatever feels safe. Spell out what each sentence should say and it has nowhere to coast. That last line, "don't add anything the original doesn't say," stops most of the making-things-up.

Keep these in mind

  • Give it a format
  • Conclusion first, then evidence
  • No filling in the gaps
