Stop saying “Look this up for me”

Fact-findingDon't say

“Look this up for me”

It confidently made up numbers, and they sounded pretty convincing.

Say thisSwap the [ ] part for yours

Look up [what you want to know] for me. After each fact, add the source link and its date. If you can't find something, just say so. Don't guess.

Xiaoting says

By default, AI wants to hand you an answer, even when it doesn't have one. Give it a way out ("if you can't find it, say so") and ask for a source on every point, and you can check everything yourself.

Keep these in mind

  • Ask for sources
  • Ask for dates
  • Let it say "I don't know"
